Caserta

Thursday 06/11/2014 - Return journey

Caserta, the royal palace and gardens.
Another Unesco World Heritage site.

View of the 120 ha big park, containing an Italian garden and an English garden.
On the hill there is the grotto, essential elements for an 'Italian garden'.

Fountain with the Dolphins ("Fontana dei Delfini), 1776.
The water feeds a huge bassin of 470m by 27m.

The Aeolus fountain (Fontana di Eolo").
The most spectacular and monumental of the garden.

Cerere's Fountain ("Fontana di Cerere"), 1783.
Cerere holds the Trinacria medal, symbol of Sicily.

Diana and Actaeon Fountain, at the feet of the grand cascade, missed...
